Tour Information

Day 1 - Johannesburg

Stay at Atholplace House & Villa in Johannesburg and join a tour led by a special guide named Howard Geach. Visit Liliesleaf Farm to learn about South Africa's history, especially the time when Nelson Mandela was involved. Spend a whole day exploring different places with Howard, like Johannesburg’s oldest township, trying local food and seeing interesting things. You’ll visit the Apartheid Museum to learn about a difficult time in South Africa's past and see the modern Constitutional Court. After a busy day, your host will take you back to your hotel for dinner after giving you time to freshen up.

Day 2 - Madikwe

After a yummy breakfast, you'll go to Lanseria Airport and fly on a special plane to Madikwe Game Reserve. When you land, a ranger will meet you and drive you in a cool safari car to Morukuru River Lodge. There, you'll have a super fun safari in Madikwe, a place with forests and dry areas where lots of animals live, like the Big Five and the rare African wild dog. You'll have your own car and team to guide you on an adventure at your own speed. Then, hop on a game drive to explore the beautiful land and see amazing animals like the Big Five and the special African wild dog that live there.

Day 3 - Madikwe

Experience a change of perspective with a guided bush walk that uncovers the rich tapestry of the African landscape, delving into the intricacies of insects, plants, birds, and small wildlife. Engage in catch-and-release fishing by the river or opt for a refreshing water tubing experience at the seasonal Molatedi Dam. Elevate your culinary skills with a cooking lesson led by the villa’s personal chef, indulging in local flavors and techniques. For an authentic glimpse into local life, consider an optional visit to the Molatedi village and school. Savor the essence of an African night during a stay in the lodge’s secluded hide, immersing yourself in the captivating sounds and scents of the wilderness. Engage in the pulsating rhythms of Africa with a drumming session beneath the open skies, available for an additional cost. Lastly, immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural heritage with a display of local dancers showcasing their athletic prowess and colorful traditional costumes, also available at an additional cost.

Day 4 | 5 - Phinda Private Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal

After breakfast, you'll head back to Madikwe Airstrip for a private flight to &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve. When you land, your ranger will warmly greet you and drive you to your cozy home for three nights. This reserve in South Africa is huge, protecting lots of animals like the Big Five and many birds. At &Beyond Phinda Homestead, a lovely villa with four bedrooms, you'll have your own ranger, tracker, chef, and butler. You'll go on two game drives every day in your own car to find the Big Five, cheetahs, and rare black rhinos in the diverse landscapes. The kids can enjoy the WILDchild program with fun activities like fishing, tracking, and painting with the ranger while you relax or join in the adventure!

Day 6 | 7 - Phinda Private Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal

Embark on a half-day excursion to the expansive sandy beaches along the Maputaland coastline, offering a chance to bask in the sun, frolic in the warm Indian Ocean waters, engage in beach activities, take leisurely strolls, or indulge in snorkeling within the protected marine reserve. For visits between November and February, opt for an exhilarating nocturnal turtle adventure at Sodwana Bay, observing the impressive leatherback and loggerhead turtles nesting along the shores (optional). During your stay, partake in a tracking adventure, delving into the bush on foot to learn animal tracking, identify signs like middens and scratching posts, and interpret the nuances of the wilderness. Explore a nearby Zulu village to gain insights into the blend of modern and traditional rural life. Additionally, for an immersive experience and subject to availability and an additional fee, join a rhino notching conservation activity where, from a helicopter, conservation experts and veterinarians sedate and mark a rhino, contributing to their conservation efforts.

Day 9 | Cape Town and the Winelands

Following breakfast, you will be chauffeured back to the airstrip for a private charter flight to Cape Town International Airport. Upon arrival, an &Beyond team member will facilitate your transfer to a helicopter bound for Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands. As you soar over the renowned Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, witness the stunning coastal vistas encompassing Clifton and Camps Bay, observe the charismatic penguins at Boulders Beach, and take in the sweeping views of Table Mountain, Robben Island, the Twelve Apostles, and the coastline from Llandudno to Hout Bay. Glide over the iconic Chapman’s Peak, capturing sights of Noordhoek, False Bay, and Cape Point before landing in Franschhoek. This picturesque town boasts a quaint street adorned with exceptional restaurants, charming cafes, and antique shops, surrounded by prestigious vineyards and wine estates. Enjoy the next two nights at the splendid La Clé des Montagnes in the heart of the Winelands.

Day 10 - Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands

Take a special trip through the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands. When you arrive in Stellenbosch, you'll get a bike and a helmet for a unique wine tour around Cape Town. Ride your bike around, visiting lovely wineries and a famous brandy place. Enjoy trying different foods with the drinks, like local meats and cheeses with the view of the vineyards. You'll also get to taste yummy pizza and fine wines that go really well together. Finish your tour with a special mix of chocolate and some of the best brandies in the world, a taste you won't forget!

Day 11: Hermanus, Cape Whale Coast

Today, you'll head to stunning Hermanus, nestled in the famous Cape Whale Coast area, making a stop along the way at the captivating Hemel en Aarde Wine Valley. Get ready for a unique wine tasting journey amidst this breathtaking coastal region. The Hemel-en-Aarde Wine Route offers an exceptional experience to explore South Africa’s renowned wines, notably chardonnay and pinot noir. Your next two nights will be at the incredible Grootbos Garden Lodge, where a variety of activities await. Engage in guided walks, nature tours through fynbos and milkwood areas, coastal and marine drives encompassing the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, De Kelders Cliff Walk, Klipgat Cave, and, in the right season, land-based whale watching (especially prominent from June to December).

Day 12 | 14 - Cape Town
